KCP Summer and Summer Short-term 2018 Cook Curry!
Curry is one of the most popular dishes in Japan. It was brought into the country by the British during the Meiji era (1868–1912). During this time, India was under the colonial rule of the British Raj, or rule by the British Crown between 1858 and 1947. The dish soon became a regular fare in the Japanese menu and even became available at supermarkets and restaurants in the late 19060’s’. Curry has since evolved to suit Japanese taste buds and is so popular among Japanese it can be considered as Japan’s national dish. The Imperial Japanese Navy adopted curry from the Royal Navy to prevent beriberi, and today, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force has curry as a regular menu item every Friday.
